Butterfly Gallery

Amazingly unique pieces are found in this gallery. Darby's Butterfly series launched her into a new realm of art that pertained to using real butterflies on her canvas. Just as her Breasts and Body gallery was produced without the use of paint brushes the same manner is portrayed in the bulk of her Butterfly series. Darby purchases her beautiful and original butterflies from abroad. The butterflies are shipped to her directly papered or unspread where she takes the detailed work of carefully mounting them to her canvases to complete her pieces of amazing art. Darby does not deal with endangered or protected species. They have been raised in farms and aviaries that promote the conservation instead of deforestation of the rain forest by protecting areas that the butterflies inhabit and employing the workers that collect them.

The materials used in her Butterfly series consist of tempera paint that is non-toxic and safe when applied to skin (unlike others such as acrylic that has a component in it that is considered to be unsafe when not properly used, and should never be applied to skin). She uses high quality canvases to insure her clients investments, and each canvas is gallery stretched with staple free edges. So there is no need for framing unless it is desired. All edges are painted black unless specified differently, and all pieces are finally varnished with a gloss finish that allows the colors to real pour into a room.

This gallery displays many of Darby's originals that have already sold. Prints are available upon request, and depending on size of request.
